What would be your top three priorities if elected?
How would you characterize the business climate in Shoreview and what is the role of businesses supporting quality of life issues in the community?
What role do you think the City should have in attracting and retaining jobs, and what steps would you take to solicit new businesses to, and retain existing businesses in, Shoreview?
Do you support any other specific employment-related proposals in Shoreview (such as minimum wage, sick time, or mandatory scheduling notice)? If so, what steps would you take to understand the impact of an ordinance on the many types of businesses in Shoreview and how would you define any exceptions to those policies?
What are your strategies to address public safety, housing, and transportation issues facing your community?
What are your priorities for the City’s budget?
What will you do to expand Shoreview's tax base?
How will you work with K-12 and post-secondary educational institutions and businesses to ensure our region develops and retains an educated workforce?
Are there any services currently provided by the city that you believe should be cut back or eliminated? Are there new opportunities to share services with other entities?
What is the role of the City Council in fostering increased minority- and women-owned businesses in Shoreview?
What further policies can Shoreview adopt to help the business community recover from the COVID-19 pandemic?
Is there anything else you would like to share with voters not covered above?
My family has been a part of the Shoreview community for four generations and I have represented CD4 as a DFL delegate for several years. I look forward to bringing a new perspective to the leadership team in Shoreview and being a champion of change to ignite programs and policies that will make Shoreview an inclusive, safe and progressive place to live for generations to come.
Thank you!

- As a thirty-year product development, strategic marketing and sales professional, I believe I have a fresh perspective and many transferrable skills including strategic planning, process and change management control, culturally competency and community engagement to the city council chambers. I have specific training in organizational leadership, quality control, project management and change management that will also bring value to the governance of the city of Shoreview.
What would be your top three priorities if elected?
- Community safety
- Community engagement and inclusion
- Operational debt reduction and balancing the city budget
How would you characterize the business climate in Shoreview and what is the role of businesses supporting quality of life issues in the community?
- Our partnerships with large companies are not being leverage to benefit the Shoreview community. Midsize and small business owners engage with residents more than corporate partners. Reigniting these relationships will create education, training and job opportunities for decades to come.
What role do you think the City should have in attracting and retaining jobs, and what steps would you take to solicit new businesses to, and retain existing businesses in, Shoreview?
- The city council should have an economic development committee that offers open forums to local recruiters to showcase training opportunities and labor needs. Engaging public affairs professionals, employee resource groups and small business owner will be the start of developing sustained relationship for future job growth.
Do you support any other specific employment-related proposals in Shoreview (such as minimum wage, sick time, or mandatory scheduling notice)? If so, what steps would you take to understand the impact of an ordinance on the many types of businesses in Shoreview and how would you define any exceptions to those policies?
- Most of the employment specific policies in our city are standard for the state and have already been assessed by the current city council. I will support a higher minimum/livable wage to improve the quality of life for people living and working in our community.
What are your strategies to address public safety, housing, and transportation issues facing your community?
- Maintaining a community safety board, positive relationships with law enforcement and open forums for citizens to voice issues or concerns will be critical to maintaining public safety in Shoreview. I will support and continue the work to bring affordable housing to our community that the current council members are engaged in and work toward more equitable and accessible transportation for all.
What are your priorities for the City’s budget?
- To balance it within three years.
What will you do to expand Shoreview's tax base?
- Expand education and financing opportunities to increase homeownership. Incent property investors to reactivate distressed properties as affordable housing.
How will you work with K-12 and post-secondary educational institutions and businesses to ensure our region develops and retains an educated workforce?
- Have each corporate partner adopt a school and support trade and services training as well as STEM education. Increase virtual mentoring/accountability partnerships between professionals and youth.
Are there any services currently provided by the city that you believe should be cut back or eliminated? Are there new opportunities to share services with other entities?
- Maintaining and expanding green energy certifications with all business partners through the LEED program will deepen the relationship between industry, government and community. Developing a community-based sustainability committee with youth organizers will be an effective way to ‘grow up’ constituents as environmental policy champions for the city.
What is the role of the City Council in fostering increased minority- and women-owned businesses in Shoreview?
- The council has an opportunity to take a leadership role in fostering these business opportunities. The city should partner with SPACC to offer regional training and mentorships for anyone interested in obtaining a WMBE certification. I will have long term community engagement benefits directly related to the diversity and inclusion goals for our city.
What further policies can Shoreview adopt to help the business community recover from the COVID-19 pandemic?
- Oddly enough, 2020 is a great time to create new connections and network to fill personal time. The council can elect surrogates to host a variety of gathering, speakers and content to help the business community stay connected. There is opportunity to launch several community-based communication campaigns to keep enriching conversation top of mind for constituents who want to connect.
