Candidate Bio
for several years. Served on a couple of boards. I'm currently on the board of the Cimarron Residents Association. I work as the video technician for the city council and committee meetings for the broadcasts for Stillwater, Oak Park Hts, Bayport, and Centerville. I am very familiar with how cities work.
What would be your top three priorities if elected?
1. Listen to the concerns of the people of Lake Elmo.
2. Work with the people who are the Lake Elmo city government to get the concerns addressed.
3. Provide representaion for the people of Cimarron on the City Council.
How would you characterize the business climate in Lake Elmo and what is the role of businesses supporting quality of life issues in the community?
I believe the business climate in Lake Elmo to be good. I see, with all the growth we have, an opportunity for growth. I'd like to see the city encourage the growth of small business to increase the quality of life in our city.
What role do you think the city should have in attracting and retaining jobs, and what steps would you take to solicit new businesses to, and retain existing businesses in, Lake Elmo?
I see the city as critical support for businees growth through dialoge and listening to the people who live here.
What policies, if any, would you support to help employers address the labor shortage?
I would propose that the city work on branding Lake Elmo as a great place to work and conduct businness.
Do you support any specific employment-related proposals in Lake Elmo (such as minimum wage, sick time, or mandatory scheduling notice)? If so, what steps would you take to understand the impact of an ordinance on the many types of businesses in Lake Elmo and how would you define any exceptions to those policies?
I do not yet know enough to support any specific proposals, yet. I will work and learn which if any of these ideas are good for Lake Elmo.
Public safety and rising crime rates are of serious concern to the business community and residents. What strategies or policies would you propose to address public safety issues facing your community?
I will propose the creation of a monthly comission to study strategies and policies to propose the public safety issues in Lake Elmo.
What strategies or policies would you propose to address housing issues facing your community?
I have no specific policies to propose, yet. I will be working to understand any housing issues in Lake Elmo.
What strategies or policies would you propose to address transportation issues facing your community? Have your strategies or views changed on transportation since we’ve seen shifts in road use, public transportation use, work from home models, etc. due to the pandemic?
We need easier access to the Metros transit system. I would work on our communication with parties that can make that happen.
What are your priorities for the City’s budget?
I will support the wise use of our city budget.
What will you do to expand Lake Elmo’s tax base?
I will work with city staff to explore ways to increase our tax base in a reasonable and fair way.
How will you work with K-12 and post-secondary educational institutions and businesses to ensure our region develops and retains an educated workforce?
I will listen and learn. The city has a vested interest in a good realtionship with our schools and school district.
Are there any services currently provided by the city that you believe should be cut back or eliminated? Are there new opportunities to share services with other entities?
There are not any services, that I'm aware of, that need to be cut back or eliminated.
What is the role of the City Council in fostering increased minority- and women-owned businesses in Lake Elmo?
The City Council should take advantage of any programs that are available to foster minority and women owned businesses in Lake Elmo.
What further policies can Lake Elmo adopt to help the business community recover from the COVID-19 pandemic?
I am not aware of the issues facing the Cottage Grove business community.
Is there anything else you would like to share with voters not covered above?
I believe it is critical that the people who vote for me should expect to be heard by me. Also, I believe that the people who don't vote for me should also expect to be heard by me.
